 -in-teaching-through-professional-learning/\n\n\n\nAddressing Equity in
Teaching Through Professional Learning\nThursday\, October 10\,
  2019\nNoon – 1:30 pm ET\n\n\nAll of America’s teachers need access
to high-quality professional learning and support to address students’
cultural contexts\, social emotional development and an ability to
engage with demanding academic content. All too often\, the teachers of
the students who need the most support are in schools with the most
limited resources for professional learning. We can turn the tide by
providing ongoing\, collaborative and job-embedded professional learning
for all teachers and leaders.\nHear from the field about the challenges
schools and districts are facing\, how they have intervened with
professional learning and what the impact has been. Specifically\, this
panel will focus on how Title II-A supported initiatives are making a
difference in recruiting and retaining teachers and leaders and
  increasing student achievement.\n\nKeynote:\nDenise Glyn Borders\,
  Executive Director\, Learning Forward\n\n\nPanelists include:\nBeth
Albert\, Executive Director\, Professional Development and Student
  Achievement\, Norman Public Schools\, Oklahoma\nScott Feder\,
  Superintendent\, South Brunswick School District\, New Jersey\nPaul
Katnik\, Deputy Commissioner\, Missouri Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education\nBarbara Patterson Oden\, Professional Development
  Specialist\, Suffolk Public Schools\, Virginia\nLeigh Wall\,
Superintendent of Schools\, Santa Fe Independent School District\, Texas
and President\, Learning Forward (moderator)\n\n\nThis event made
possible with support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family
Foundation.\n*Thank you to Chair DeLauro for securing our room and
  coordinating logistics.\n\nLearning Forward is a nonprofit\,
international membership association of learning educators committed to
one vision in K–12 education: Excellent teaching and learning every
day. To realize that vision Learning Forward pursues its mission to
build the capacity of leaders to establish and sustain highly effective
professional learning. Information about membership\, services\, and
  products is available from www.learningforward.org.\n
